How a Massachusetts psychotherapist fell for a Nigerian e-mail scam.
I once saw this guy fall for a scam where these dudes stopped him in the street and told him that he just won a competition and whatever amount of cash he gives them they would double within an hour. I was walking by as he was taking out his card to draw money and stopped to tell this fool that this has got to be a scam. Damn, you could see the scammers were taxi boys (thats a new term I just invented).
Never underestimate the power of denial.
b, i can't agree more. Still believing in the existence of some Abacha family after losing $80k to 'them' and held responsible for another 600 while staring through steel bars... I don't know if somebody as reputable can be that idiotic. Simply the power of denial!
Interesting website with a lot of resources and detailed explanations.»
